BENEFITS OF BEING A MENTOR
Sharing your relevant experience with those looking for guidance can be a rewarding way to give back to colleagues as well as those just beginning their careers. The duration of a mentor/mentee relationship can be as short as one meeting or can continue longer term depending on the mentee’s objectives.
BENEFITS OF BEING A MENTEE
Whether you are looking to be more effective in your current role, map out a strategy for career advancement, or explore different career paths, talking with a more experienced person can provide a fresh perspective and serve as a sounding board to discuss ideas and approaches before you take action.
Mentoring supports opportunity and advancement for new professionals. The AVTC Alumni Association supports professionals and students by connecting them with experienced specialists who will coach, lead and advise in career development. Mentees can use the mentor directory to find a mentor who is able to guide them toward their professional goals.
Find Mentors by searching for specific industry, fields or companies you'd like to engage with.
RULES OF ENGAGEMENT
The AVTC Alumni Association Mentorship Program is designed to provide one-on-one mentoring. Both mentors and mentees participate voluntarily. Mentors are experienced mobility professionals and any advice given is based on their personal experience. The Association is not responsible for the effectiveness of, nor is there an implied endorsement of, the career advancement strategies or guidance that may be discussed between mentors and mentees.
Mentees are responsible for selecting potential mentors based on a review of the mentors’ experience, accomplishments and career path to ensure alignment with their specific goals for the mentorship.
Once a mentor and mentee agree to connect, it is the responsibility of both parties to determine how (in person, in writing, by phone or by video call), when, and how often to connect. The mentor and mentee should also discuss expectations around confidentiality. The Association is not liable for information shared between a mentor and mentee.
As members of the ATVC Alumni Association, both mentors and mentees are expected to make their best effort to build professional, respectful and constructive relationships through clear communications and transparency.
